Our team at TELEHOUSE America believe in building a community through our customers, partners and networking friends. We have been actively hosting seminars, cocktail events and conferences for several years but this month was the first time TELEHOUSE acted as a host for our friends at the New York Technology Council.
On May 17th, NY Tech Council held a spring time seminar focusing on Privacy and Data Security in the Cloud. Hosted at our new TELEHOUSE Chelsea location at 85 10th Avenue, we saw three expert speakers offer insights in to how to plan, develop and enhance your data security. The main topics included:
- Identity Theft
- Data Theft
- Reputational Risk
- Risk of Sanctions
- Legal Requirements of PII Protection (personally identifiable information)
- Monitoring and Compliance Best Practices
Our three guest speakers included David Sharrow, Council at Gunderson Dettmer who discussed the legal implications of storing data in the cloud and the risks associated with this storage method. David was followed by John Fodera, Partner at EisnerAmper, John offered practical tips on how to protect your data from hackers and information misuse for both complete data protection and brand preservation. Finally, Chris Wolf, Director of Product Design at Plusgrade presented case study examples of day to day data protection in the Cloud environment. All three presentation were videoed and can be watched on the NY Tech Council website at http://www.nytech.org/
