Our Breakfast on Broadway during the morning of Thursday, October 28 was another runaway success for our Breakfast seminar series. An intimate group of TELEHOUSE customers gathered at our 25 Broadway facility to hear the latest fiber trends and cloud service news.
The session began with Sean O’Rourke, Principle at Syzygy 3, a consulting, design/build, and support firm, discussing the steps to determine which Cloud Computing services are the best fit for specific companies. Mr. O’Rourke’s discussion highlighted the necessary items an organization must consider before deciding if an off-the-shelf or custom cloud solution would be the right investment.
Following Mr. O’Rourke, Karl May of Vello Systems, a manufacturer of advanced optical networking systems, discussed how the company has developed a cloud switch to support low-latency, virtualized data center fabrics that connect resources at L2, not L3.
The last speaker of the morning was Ray LaChance, President and CEO of Lexent Metro Connect, a leading provider of custom-built dark fiber networks. Mr. LaChance spoke about the dark fiber issues that have led to product and services changes in 2010, and gave his insight on where the fiber industry is heading in 2011. Mr. LaChance provided the audience with necessary questions to ask when selecting a dark fiber provider.
This proved to be an excellent networking opportunity for a niche group of Telehouse partners and customers. We are proudly hosting the event video on our website for those who couldn’t attend the live seminar or as a recap for invited guests.
